The reality today is that very few (if any) exorcisms are performed by priests as the Church takes a more modernistic attitude towards such reports and relates to them as more a form of mental illness rather than demonic possession - which in some cases is perfectly correct.

I and my group Haunted Earth are being called more frequently to deal with `house possessions` - whereby a person believes their home or place of work to be influenced by negative entities.
The causes are varied, sometimes it can be an energy that has attached itself to a home or indeed an individual but are appearing more commonly through the modern appetite for `Ouija` boards.

What are the symptoms of a house possession?

The feeling is that someone or something is always around you.
Constant arguments between family members and/or other residents.
Seeing strange anomalies such as an orb manifestation both day or night, and often seen through normal eyesight.
A certain tenseness in the atmosphere in the home.
And lastly, the worst experience, of always feeling negative or depressed.

What is a negative elemental entity?

From experience they are neither human nor animal but are created from strong emotions which these elementals seemingly use to feed from their victims.
They often attach themselves to an unwilling real spirit and use the host energy to move and travel at will.
Quite often poltergeist behaviour can evolve from them, and on one `clearance` of a house I recall egg cups being thrown at me whilst we were performing a clearing ritual.

My Own Story

My experience of one clearance actually involved my own home.
About two years ago, I ended a stormy relationship with a girlfriend who had suffered from work depression.

During our time together, I felt a gradual change to the atmosphere in the home.
Quite often she would call from work and on most occasions a visually apparent dark cloud of ectoplasmic energy would build up on a staircase just prior to the telephone ringing. There would also be foul musty odours which appeared and disappeared with minutes.
On other occasions, I would feel very cold on a warm day whilst working in the house, or strange ectoplasmic photographs would be captured on camera within the family home.
Quite often I worked alone in the house, and yet I could `feel` the close presence of someone or something behind me, and I would often catch sight - albeit momentarily of a bright orb energy darting fleetingly from view.
.
These experiences for me were quite new but disconcerting, as my already active home was friendly and welcoming until this entity appeared.

The House `Clearance` Performed

The source of this elemental energy was always shielded from me, and I was never able to pinpoint its location or origin. Eventually, I decided enough was enough and called into my home two medium friends who quickly picked up this entity without formal introduction or discussion, and they saw this thing as a human like figure in a cowled monk like habit or gown.

With some team members assembled, this elemental was located in the master bedroom and tracked through the house as it attempted to evade efforts to `trap` it through a house `clearance` ritual.
At one point it was cornered within a downstairs washroom, but a momentary distraction allowed it to escape and return to the bedroom to where the team followed.

It was apparent that this elemental remained `grounded` in my home through it's attachment to a spirit of a man dressed in 1940`s clothing.
Through one medium this spirit protested that he didn't want to be here, and that the elemental was using him to remain in the house.

A clearance exercise was then performed, and during it the atmosphere in the room became extremely tense, as the infrared video camcorders caught an abundance of orb energy which poured into the room like a mass of soap bubbles.
In addition a cold draught was felt very strongly from the same section of the bedroom wall, and on touching this area you could feel the source of the draught which made a cigarette lighter flame bend in the breeze.

It would appear that this energy had created a `portal`, which is in effect a doorway from our world to the spirit realms, and during the `clearance`, the portal was sealed shut.
After some turbulent minutes the room suddenly became calm and the house felt as though it was at peace again, and to this day there have not been any fresh manifestations of this type.

Who Do You Contact?

If you feel that your home may be experiencing similar occurrences it may well be in your interest to call in a reputable medium to assess what the problem may be, and who in turn may call in further assistance to help remove it from the home.

Never allow the situation to continue without help as it can only become worse and more depressing for you and whoever shares your home.
Whether you personally believe in the paranormal or not, any form of depression should be addressed in the first instance by contacting your G.P.

If you feel unable to cope - consider outside agencies such as the Samaritans to help.
Never consider performing your own house `clearance`, always seek help from experienced mediums for their advice and guidance.
Remember - there is always help if you need it.
